A-Kit 

Presentation: A-Kit is a kit containing one tablet of Mifepristone INN 200 mg and four tablets of Misoprostol USP 200 mcg.

Indications: A-Kit is indicated for early Menstrual Regulation (MR)/termination of pregnancy up to 9 weeks (63 days) of gestation.  

Dosage and Administration:   This medication can only be prescribed and administered under the supervision of a qualified medical professional who can assess the gestational age and diagnose ectopic pregnancies. They must also be able to provide surgical intervention if needed in cases of incomplete abortion or severe bleeding.

• Day 1 (First visit): One tablet of Mifepristone (200 mg) is taken orally in a single dose under the supervision of a qualified medical professional in a clinic, medical office, or hospital.  
• Day 2 (Second visit):   24-48 hours after ingesting the Mifepristone tablet, the patient takes four 200 microgram tablets (800 micrograms total) of Misoprostol buccally (between the cheek and gum) or sublingually (under the tongue). The patient should wait for 30 minutes after placing the tablets.
• Day 10 to 14 (Third visit): A follow-up visit is mandatory to confirm the complete termination of pregnancy by clinical examination or ultrasound.

Side Effects: The treatment is designed to induce vaginal bleeding and uterine cramping, which are expected. Commonly reported side effects include nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, pelvic pain, fainting, headache, dizziness, and asthenia. Less common but potentially serious side effects include severe vaginal bleeding, shock, and uterine rupture.

Precautions: A-Kit is contraindicated in patients with a history of allergy or hypersensitivity to Mifepristone, Misoprostol, or other prostaglandins, confirmed or suspected ectopic pregnancy, or undiagnosed adnexal mass.It should not be used in patients with chronic adrenal failure, concurrent long-term corticosteroid therapy, history of bleeding disorders or anemia, severe liver or kidney disease, or uncontrolled asthma. An intrauterine device (IUD) must be removed before starting treatment.

Use in Pregnancy and Lactation: A-Kit is indicated for the termination of pregnancy and should not be used to continue a pregnancy. It is not known whether Mifepristone is excreted in human milk. Many hormones with a similar chemical structureare excreted in breast milk. Breastfeeding should be avoided during treatment with A-Kit and for a few days after, as advised by a healthcare professional.

Storage: Store as directed by the healthcare provider or according to the product packaging. Keep out of reach of children.
