Aboprost 200

Presentation: Aboprost 200, available in Bangladesh, contains Misoprostol 200 mcg per tablet for oral administration. It is usually available in blister packs.

Indications: Aboprost (Misoprostol) is indicated for:

• Prevention of gastric ulcers induced by non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) in patients at high risk.
• Treatment of gastric and duodenal ulcers.
• Medical management of early pregnancy loss.
• Induction of labor at term.
• Management of postpartum hemorrhage.

Dosage and Administration: The dosage of Aboprost varies significantly depending on the indication.

• NSAID-induced ulcer prevention: 200 mcg four times daily with food or 400 mcg twice daily.
• Ulcer treatment: 200 mcg four times daily for at least 4 weeks.
• Pregnancy loss, labor induction, and postpartum hemorrhage: Dosage regimens should be strictly followed as directed by a healthcare professional in a clinical setting.

Aboprost tablets are for oral use unless specified otherwise by a healthcare provider.

Side Effects: Common side effects may include diarrhea, abdominal pain, nausea, flatulence, and headache. Uterine cramping and vaginal bleeding may occur, particularly when used for gynecological indications.

Precautions: Aboprost (Misoprostol) is contraindicated in patients with hypersensitivity to prostaglandins. It should not be used during pregnancy for ulcer prevention or treatment due to its abortifacient properties.
