Acical-DX 

Presentation: Film-coated tablets containing Calcium Carbonate (from coral source) equivalent to Elemental Calcium, and Vitamin D3 (Cholecalciferol). Different strengths may be available, such as Calcium 500 mg with Vitamin D3 200 IU, or Calcium 600 mg with Vitamin D3 400 IU. Available in strips or pots. Manufactured by ACI Limited and other companies in Bangladesh.

Indications: Indicated for the prevention and treatment of calcium and Vitamin D deficiency. Used in conditions such as osteoporosis, osteomalacia, rickets, tetany, and parathyroid disorders. Also used as a supplement to ensure adequate intake during pregnancy and lactation, osteogenesis, tooth formation, and with anti-seizure medications. May be used as a routine supplement and phosphate binder in chronic renal failure.

Dosage and Administration: Dosage depends on the strength and the individual's needs.

• For Calcium 500 mg + Vitamin D3 200 IU: Usually 1-2 tablets daily or as directed by a physician.
• For Calcium 600 mg + Vitamin D3 400 IU: Usually 1 tablet twice daily or as directed by a physician.
• It is best taken with or just after a meal to improve absorption. Swallow whole with water.

Side Effects: Generally well-tolerated. Possible side effects may include flatulence, constipation, nausea, stomach pain, and diarrhea. Hypercalciuria and hypercalcemia may occur with prolonged use at high doses.

Precautions: Contraindicated in patients with hypercalcaemia, hypercalciuria, hyperparathyroidism, nephrolithiasis (kidney stones), and severe renal insufficiency. Use with caution in patients with mild to moderate renal failure, pre-existing heart disease, sarcoidosis, and kidney diseases. May interact with certain medications, including thiazide diuretics, digoxin, bisphosphonates, tetracycline antibiotics, and iron supplements; separate administration times may be necessary.

Storage: Store below 30°C in a cool and dry place, protected from light. Keep out of reach of children.
