Acical JR 

Presentation: Chewable tablets containing Calcium Carbonate. Available in various strengths (e.g., 250 mg elemental Calcium per tablet) and pack sizes. Manufactured by ACI Pharmaceuticals Ltd. in Bangladesh.

Ingredients: Calcium Carbonate BP (amount of elemental Calcium specified on packaging). May contain excipients for chewability and flavor.

Indications: Indicated as a dietary calcium supplement for children and adolescents during periods of rapid growth. It helps in maintaining the development and growth of strong bones and teeth. Also used for the prevention and treatment of conditions like osteoporosis, osteomalacia, and rickets. May be used in cases of inadequate dietary calcium intake.

Dosage & Administration:

• Children: One Acical JR tablet daily.
• Adolescents: One to two Acical JR tablets daily.
• Or as directed by a physician.
• The tablets are chewable and can be taken at any time of the day.

Side Effects: Generally well-tolerated. In rare cases, constipation, flatulence, or diarrhea may occur. Hypercalcemia and alkalosis are rarely produced with large doses.

Precautions: Contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to any component of the formulation. Also contraindicated in hypercalcemia, hyperparathyroidism, Zollinger-Ellison Syndrome, concomitant digoxin therapy, severe hypercalciuria, severe renal insufficiency, and nephrolithiasis. Caution should be exercised when hypercalcemia occurs; discontinuation of the drug is usually sufficient to return serum calcium concentrations to normal.Calcium salts should be used cautiously in patients with sarcoidosis, renal or cardiac disease, and in patients receiving cardiac glycosides. Patients with a history of stone formation should also be recommended to increase their fluid intake. High doses of Vitamin D should be avoided during calcium therapy unless specifically indicated.  

Storage: Store in a cool and dry place, protected from light. Keep out of reach of children.
