Alia 

Presentation: Alia Tablet, manufactured by The ACME Laboratories Ltd. in Bangladesh, contains Allylestrenol 5 mg as the active ingredient. It is presented as a tablet for oral administration, typically available in strips of 10 tablets.

Indications: Alia is indicated in women for the following conditions:

• Threatened abortion
• Habitual abortion
• Threatened premature delivery
• Intra-Uterine Growth Retardation (IUGR)

Allylestrenol is a synthetic progesterone derivative that helps maintain pregnancy by promoting the development of the fertilized ovum and reducing the sensitivity of the uterus to oxytocin, which can prevent preterm labor.

Dosage and Administration: The dosage of Alia varies depending on the condition being treated and should be as directed by a healthcare professional:

• Threatened abortion: 1 tablet three times daily until symptoms disappear. The treatment period may be extended if necessary, with gradual dose reduction after symptoms subside.
• Habitual abortion: 1-2 tablets daily as soon as pregnancy is diagnosed and continued for at least one month after the critical period.
• Threatened premature delivery: Dosage must be determined individually, with high dosages (up to 40 mg daily) sometimes used.
• Intra Uterine Growth Retardation (IUGR): 1 tablet three times a day for at least two months, with the dose reduced if symptoms improve.

If a dose is missed, it should be taken as soon as remembered, and the regular dosing schedule should be continued. A double dose is not recommended.

Side Effects: Treatment with Allylestrenol, especially long-term, has been associated with gastrointestinal issues such as nausea, vomiting, and epigastric pain.

Precautions: Alia is contraindicated in individuals with hypersensitivity to allylestrenol, thrombophlebitis, undiagnosed vaginal bleeding, incomplete abortion, hormone-dependent cancer, cerebral apoplexy, and severe hepatic impairment. It should not be used as a pregnancy diagnostic test. Caution should be exercised in patients with heart disease, congestive heart failure, sick sinus syndrome, coronary artery disease, seizures, epilepsy, renal dysfunction, migraine headaches, or respiratory illnesseslike asthma, emphysema, chronic bronchitis, or COPD. Alia may cause decreased alertness, affect vision, or cause sleepiness and dizziness.

Storage: Store Alia Tablet below 30°C, away from light and moisture. Keep out of reach of children.
