Alzolam 0.5

Presentation: Each tablet contains Alprazolam BP 0.5 mg.

Indications: Alzolam is indicated for the management of anxiety disorders and the short-term relief of symptoms of anxiety. It is also indicated for the treatment of panic disorder, with or without agoraphobia.  

Dosage & Administration: The dosage of Alzolam must be individualized and titrated to achieve the desired therapeutic effect with minimal adverse reactions.

• Anxiety Disorders: The usual starting dose for adults is 0.25 to 0.5 mg administered two or three times daily. The dose may be increased gradually by the physician as needed, to a maximum total daily dose of 4 mg.
• Panic Disorder: The initial dose is typically 0.5 mg three times daily. The dose may be increased at intervals of every 3 to 4 days in increments of no more than 1 mg per day. Some patients may require doses in excess of 4 mg per day.

In elderly or debilitated patients, the initial dose should be lower, such as 0.25 mg two or three times daily, and increased gradually if needed and tolerated. Follow the physician's instructions carefully.

Side Effects: Common side effects may include drowsiness, dizziness, lightheadedness, headache, dry mouth, and fatigue. Less common side effects can include blurred vision, changes in appetite, constipation, diarrhea, irritability, and memory problems.

Precautions: Alzolam should be used with caution in patients with respiratory disease, kidney or liver problems, glaucoma, or a history of drug or alcohol abuse. It may be habit-forming and can lead to dependence. Avoid abrupt discontinuation of treatment. Caution should be exercised when using alcohol or other central nervous system depressants concurrently. Alzolam may impair the ability to drive or operate machinery. Inform your physician if you are pregnant, planning to become pregnant, or breastfeeding.

Drug Interactions: Alprazolam can interact with several other medications. Inform your physician of all medications you are currently taking, including over-the-counter drugs and herbal supplements. Particular caution is warranted with opioids, other benzodiazepines, and medications that inhibit hepatic enzymes.

Storage: Store below 30°C, protect from light and moisture. Keep out of reach of children.
