Amipride 50

Presentation:
Each tablet contains 50 mg of Amisulpride

Indications:
Amipride 50 is indicated for:
- Treatment of acute and chronic schizophrenia
- Management of psychotic disorders with predominant positive symptoms (delusions, hallucinations)
- Treatment of psychotic disorders with predominant negative symptoms (social withdrawal, emotional blunting)

Dosage and Administration:
- Positive symptoms:
 - Adults: 400-800 mg/day in 2 divided doses (max 1200 mg/day)
- Negative symptoms:
 - Adults: 50-300 mg/day as single dose
- Elderly: Lower initial doses recommended
- Take with or without food
- Do not stop abruptly - taper dose gradually under medical supervision

Side Effects:
Common side effects may include:
- Insomnia, anxiety, agitation
- Weight gain
- Dry mouth, constipation
- Extrapyramidal symptoms (tremors, muscle stiffness)
- Prolactin elevation (may cause menstrual disorders, galactorrhea)
- QT prolongation (rare but serious)

Precautions:
- Contraindicated in:
 - Pheochromocytoma
 - Prolactin-dependent tumors
 - Children under 15 years
- Use with caution in:
 - Elderly patients
 - Parkinson's disease
 - Renal impairment (dose adjustment needed)
 - Cardiovascular disorders
- Pregnancy & Breastfeeding:
 - Avoid unless clearly needed
 - May cause adverse effects in newborn
- Alcohol interaction: Avoid (may increase sedation)

Storage:
- Store below 30°C in a dry place
- Protect from light and moisture
- Keep out of reach of children

Important Note:
This medication requires regular monitoring. Report any unusual movements, irregular heartbeat or persistent side effects to your doctor immediately. Blood tests may be required to monitor prolactin levels and kidney function.
