Apidone 10 

Presentation: Each tablet of Apidone 10 contains Domperidone BP 10 mg. Apidone 10 is a product marketed by Team Pharmaceuticals Ltd. in Bangladesh and is usually available in blister packs. The tablets are typically white and round.

Indications: Apidone (Domperidone) is indicated for the symptomatic relief of nausea and vomiting. It is also used for the management of upper gastrointestinal motility disorders such as:

• Epigastric sense of fullness
• Abdominal distension
• Upper abdominal pain
• Eructation, flatulence, early satiety
• Heartburn with or without regurgitation of gastric contents

It can also be used to counteract the nausea and vomiting induced by dopamine agonists used in the treatment of Parkinson's disease.

Dosage and Administration: Apidone 10 tablets should be taken orally, preferably 15 to 30 minutes before meals and, if necessary, before retiring.

• Adults: The usual dose is 10-20 mg (1-2 tablets) every 4-8 hours daily. The maximum daily dose is 80 mg.
• Children (0.2-0.4 mg/kg body weight): Dosage should be determined by a physician, typically every 6-8 hours daily. Other formulations like suspension may be more suitable for children.

The duration of treatment should be as short as possible and as directed by your doctor, especially for acute nausea and vomiting where the maximum treatment period is usually 12 weeks.

Side Effects: Common side effects of Apidone (Domperidone) may include:

• Headache
• Dry mouth
• Stomach pain
• Diarrhoea

Less common side effects can include:

• Dizziness
• Drowsiness
• Anxiety
• Breast tenderness or enlargement (galactorrhoea in rare cases)
• Skin rash or itching

Rare but potentially serious side effects include irregular heartbeats (arrhythmias). If you experience any significant or persistent side effects, especially palpitations or fainting, consult your doctor immediately.

Precautions: Apidone (Domperidone) is contraindicated in patients with:

• Known hypersensitivity to domperidone or any of the excipients.
• Pituitary gland tumour (prolactinoma).
• Severe liver disease.
• Certain heart conditions or electrolyte imbalances that can increase the risk of heart rhythm disorders.
• Gastrointestinal haemorrhage, obstruction, or perforation.
• Use in children under 2 years of age.

Caution should be exercised in patients with kidney problems and in the elderly. Domperidone can interact with several other medications. Inform your doctor about all the medicines you are currently taking.

Use in Pregnancy and Lactation: Apidone is not recommended during pregnancy. Domperidone passes into breast milk and may affect the newborn. Breastfeeding is not recommended during treatment with Apidone. Consult your doctor for advice.

Storage: Store in a dry and cool place below 30° C, protected from light and moisture. Keep out of reach of children.
