Indications

Aquafresh Liquigel ophthalmic solution is a lubricant used to relieve eye irritation and discomfort caused by dryness or by exposure to wind or sun.

Pharmacology

Carboxymethylcellulose Sodium is an ocular lubricant that helps to alleviate the symptoms of moderate to severe dry eye syndromes. Its effect is similar to that of natural tears. The pharmacological action is not receptor-mediated; rather, it works as a viscosity enhancer, increasing the amount of time the eye drop stays on the eye's surface, providing long-lasting protection against dryness and irritation.

Dosage

• Adults: Instill one drop into the affected eye(s) four times a day or as needed.
• Children: This eye drop should not be used in infants and small children under 3 years of age.
• Geriatrics: No significant differences in safety or effectiveness have been noted between elderly and other adult patients.

Administration

Follow these steps for proper drop instillation:

1. Hold the bottle just below the cap and twist the cap to open it.
2. Tilt your head back, hold the bottle above your eye, pull your lower eyelid down, and look up at the tip.
3. Gently squeeze the middle of the bottle to let one drop fall into your eye. Do not squeeze too hard.
4. Close your eye and press on the inner corner with your finger for about two minutes. This helps prevent the medication from being absorbed into the rest of the body.
5. After each use, you may shake the bottle once in a downward direction or simply recap it.

Interaction

If you need to use multiple eye medications, wait at least 5 minutes between each application.

Contraindications

This eye drop is contraindicated in patients who have a known hypersensitivity to any of its ingredients.

Side Effects

Reported side effects include a burning sensation, eye irritation or itching, visual disturbance, and ocular discharge.

Pregnancy & Lactation

The safe use of this product during pregnancy and lactation has not been established. If you are pregnant or breastfeeding, consult your doctor before use.

Precautions & Warnings

• Administer any other eye medication 15 minutes before using Aquafresh Liquigel.
• Remove contact lenses before applying the solution.
• Do not use the solution if it changes color or becomes cloudy.
• To prevent contamination, do not touch the tip of the container to any surface and replace the cap after each use.

Storage Conditions

Store at a temperature not exceeding 30°C in a dry place, protected from light. Close the bottle tightly immediately after use. Keep out of the reach of children. Generally, all products should be used within 30 days of opening.
