Benvit-B 200ml

Presentation: Syrup containing Thiamine Hydrochloride BP (Vitamin B1) 5 mg, Riboflavin (as Riboflavin-5-Phosphate Sodium) BP (Vitamin B2) 2 mg, Pyridoxine Hydrochloride BP (Vitamin B6) 2 mg, and Nicotinamide BP (Vitamin B3) 20 mg per 5 ml. Available in 200 ml bottles, manufactured by Benham Pharmaceuticals Ltd. in Bangladesh.

Indications: Benvit-B syrup is indicated for the treatment and prevention of Vitamin B-complex deficiencies. These deficiencies can occur in conditions such as beriberi, Wernicke's encephalopathy, loss of appetite, cheilosis, glossitis, angular stomatitis, keratitis, seborrhoeic dermatitis, pellagra, photophobia, peripheral neuritis, and corneal vascularization. It is also used in conditions causing depletion or reduced absorption of B-vitamins, such as gastrointestinal disorders, chronic alcoholism, febrile illnesses, prolonged or wasting diseases, hyperthyroidism, poorly controlled diabetes, inadequate diet, pregnancy, severe burns, and recovery from surgery. It serves as a nutritional supplement for all age groups.

Dosage and Administration:

  • Adults and Children: 1-2 teaspoonfuls (5-10 ml) three times daily, or as directed by the physician.
  • The syrup can be taken with or without food. Use the provided measuring spoon or cup for accurate dosage. Follow the doctor's instructions regarding the duration of treatment.

Side Effects: Adverse reactions have been reported with specific vitamins, but generally at levels substantially higher than those in Benvit-B. However, allergic and idiosyncratic reactions are possible at lower levels.

Precautions:

  • Benvit-B is contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to any of its components.
  • It should be given cautiously to patients taking levodopa as pyridoxine (Vitamin B6) reduces the effect of levodopa.
  • Hypersensitivity may develop in patients previously given thiamine, especially after repeated injections of concentrated solutions; give subsequent injections with care (if applicable to other formulations of Benvit-B).
  • Discontinue use if untoward reactions develop.
  • The recommended dose should not be exceeded without medical advice, especially during pregnancy and lactation.

Storage: Store in a cool and dry place, protected from light. Keep out of reach of children.
