Bestron

Presentation: Each tablet of Bestron contains conjugated estrogens USP 0.45 mg and bazedoxifene INN 20 mg. 

Indications: Bestron is indicated for the treatment of moderate to severe vasomotor symptoms associated with menopause and the prevention of postmenopausal osteoporosisin women with a uterus.

Dosage and Administration: The recommended dose is one tablet of Bestron taken orally once daily, without regard to meals. Tablets should be swallowed whole and not crushed or chewed. For the prevention of postmenopausal osteoporosis, women taking Bestron should add supplemental calcium and/or vitamin D to their diet if daily intake is inadequate. Bestron is not indicated for use in children.

Side Effects: Common side effects may include muscle spasms, nausea, diarrhea, dyspepsia, upper abdominal pain, oropharyngeal pain, dizziness, and neck pain. Other possible side effects include high blood pressure, blood clots, liver problems, thyroid problems, fluid retention, hypocalcemia, dementia, breast lumps, unusual vaginal bleeding, severe headache,weakness and fatigue, and throat pain.

Precautions:Bestron is contraindicated in women with undiagnosed abnormal uterine bleeding; known, suspected, or past history of breast cancer; known or suspected estrogen-dependentneoplasia; active deep venous thrombosis, pulmonary embolism,or a history of these conditions; active arterial thromboembolic disease; hypersensitivity to estrogens, bazedoxifene, or any of its ingredients; known hepatic impairment or disease; known protein C, protein S, or antithrombin deficiency or other known thrombophilic disorders;and in women who are or may become pregnant or are breastfeeding. Estrogen therapy should not be used for the prevention of cardiovascular disease or dementia. There is an increased risk of endometrial cancer in a woman with a uterus who uses unopposed estrogens.Women taking Bestron should not take progestins, additional estrogens, or additional estrogen agonists/antagonists. Regular breast examinations and mammograms are recommended.

Storage: Store below 30°C, protected from light and moisture. Keep out of reach of children. After opening the foil pouch, the product must be used within 60 days.
