✨ Betnovate-N (Betamethasone Valerate)
Betnovate-N is a potent topical corticosteroid used to reduce inflammation, itching, and redness associated with various skin conditions. It works by inhibiting the release of inflammatory substances in the local tissue.
📋 Key Indications
- Eczema: Includes atopic, infantile, and discoid eczema.
- Psoriasis: Specifically for localized areas (excluding widespread plaque psoriasis).
- Dermatitis: Seborrhoeic and contact dermatitis.
- Other Conditions: Lichen planus, lichen simplex, and discoid lupus erythematosus.
🥄 Dosage & Administration
- Application: Apply sparingly (a very thin layer) to the affected area.
- Frequency: Two or three times daily until improvement begins, then reduce to twice daily or less.
- Duration: The usual maximum duration of therapy is three weeks. Long-term continuous use should be avoided to prevent skin damage.
⚠️ Contraindications (Do Not Use If)
- 🛑 Age: Not for children under one year old.
- 🛑 Infections: Do not use on viral skin infections (herpes, chickenpox) or primary fungal/bacterial infections.
- 🛑 Face/Genitals: Avoid use for acne, rosacea, perioral dermatitis (rash around the mouth), or genital itching.
⚠️ Side Effects & Precautions
- Local Reactions: Long-term or heavy use can lead to skin thinning (atrophy), stretch marks, visible blood vessels (telangiectasia), and changes in skin color.
- Adrenal Suppression: If used over large areas for a long time, the body may absorb enough steroid to affect internal hormone levels, especially in children.
- Eye Safety: Do not let the cream enter the eyes, as it can lead to glaucoma.
- Sensitivity: If you develop a new rash or irritation after applying, stop use immediately.

- Pregnancy: It should not be used extensively or for long periods during pregnancy.
- Lactation: Consult your doctor before use; avoid applying to the chest area if breastfeeding.
