Bimuty DS Syrup

Presentation: Syrup containing Zinc Sulfate Monohydrate USP equivalent to elemental Zinc 10 mg per 5 ml. Available in 100 ml bottles, manufactured by Pacific Pharmaceuticals Ltd. in Bangladesh.

Indications: Bimuty DS syrup is indicated for the treatment and prevention of zinc deficiency. Zinc is essential for numerous bodily functions including immune function, wound healing, growth, and development. It is used in conditions where zinc levels may be low due to inadequate dietary intake, malabsorption, excessive loss (e.g., diarrhea, burns, trauma), or other protein-depleted states.

Dosage and Administration:

  • Children under 10 kg: 5 ml (1 teaspoonful) 2 times daily after food.
  • Children between 10-30 kg: 10 ml (2 teaspoonfuls) 1 to 3 times daily after food.
  • Adults and children over 30 kg: 20 ml (4 teaspoonfuls) 1 to 3 times daily after food.

For optimal absorption, it is recommended to take this medicine at least 1 hour before or 2 hours after meals. However, if stomach upset occurs, it can be taken with food. Use the provided measuring spoon or cup for accurate dosage.

Side Effects: Bimuty DS syrup is generally well-tolerated. However, some individuals may experience mild gastrointestinal disturbances such as nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, stomach upset, heartburn, and gastritis.

Precautions:

  • Bimuty DS is contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to any of its ingredients.
  • Concomitant intake of tetracycline antibiotics and zinc may reduce the absorption of both medications. It is advisable to separate the administration times.
  • Similarly, taking zinc and quinolone antibiotics at the same time may decrease the absorption of both drugs.
  • Concomitant use of penicillamine and zinc may decrease zinc absorption.
  • In acute renal failure, zinc accumulation in the body may occur, potentially requiring dose adjustments.
  • The safety of this product in human pregnancy has not been fully established. Zinc is known to cross the placenta and is found in breast milk. Consult a healthcare professional before use during pregnancy or breastfeeding.

Storage: Store in a dry place, away from light and heat. Keep out of reach of children.
