Bromazep 3 Tablet

Generic Name: Bromazepam

Strength: 3 mg

Presentation: Tablets

Indications:

• Anxiety disorders

• Short-term relief of severe anxiety

• Tension

• Agitation

• Sleep disturbances (insomnia), short-term use

Dosage and Administration:

• The usual dose for anxiety and tension states ranges from 3 mg, two or three times daily.

• In severe conditions, the dosage may be increased to 6-12 mg, two or three times daily.

• For elderly or debilitated patients, the treatment should be initiated with the lowest possible dose (1.5 mg two or three times daily) with gradual increase if needed and tolerated.

• The tablets should be swallowed with a liquid (e.g., water).

• Treatment duration should be as short as possible.

Contraindications:

• Hypersensitivity to benzodiazepines

• Severe respiratory insufficiency

• Sleep apnea syndrome

• Severe hepatic insufficiency

• Myasthenia gravis

• Acute narrow-angle glaucoma

Precautions:

• Use with caution in patients with a history of drug or alcohol abuse.

• Use with caution in patients with impaired liver or kidney function.

• Benzodiazepines may cause psychological and physical dependence.

• Abrupt discontinuation of Bromazepam following prolonged use may precipitate withdrawal symptoms.

• Bromazepam may impair the ability to drive or operate machinery.

• Use with caution in the elderly.

• Use in pregnancy should be avoided unless the potential benefit outweighs the risk to the fetus.

• Bromazepam is excreted in breast milk. Breastfeeding is not recommended during treatment.

Side Effects:

• Common:

  • Drowsiness

  • Sedation

  • Muscle weakness

  • Ataxia (lack of coordination)

  • Fatigue

• Less common:

  • Dizziness

  • Headache

  • Confusion

  • Amnesia

  • Depression

  • Visual disturbances

  • Gastrointestinal disturbances

  • Skin rash

Drug Interactions:

• The sedative effect of Bromazepam may be enhanced by alcohol, other CNS depressants (e.g., other tranquilizers, hypnotics, antidepressants, antihistamines), and opioids.
