Calbo 500 

Presentation: Each tablet contains Calcium Carbonate BP equivalent to 500 mg of elemental Calcium. The tablets are intended for oral administration and may be chewable or swallowable, depending on the specific product available in Bangladesh.

Indications: Calbo 500 is indicated for the prevention and treatment of calcium deficiency. Calcium is an essential mineral for the formation and maintenance of healthy bones and teeth. It also plays a crucial role in nerve transmission, muscle function, and blood clotting. Calbo 500 may be used in individuals with inadequate dietary intake of calcium, during periods of increased calcium requirements such as childhood growth, pregnancy, and lactation, and in the prevention and treatment of osteoporosis.

Dosage and Administration: The dosage depends on the age of the individual and the specific condition being treated. Follow the instructions provided on the product packaging or as directed by a healthcare professional.

• Adults: For routine supplementation, one tablet one to three times daily may be sufficient. Higher doses may be recommended for the treatment of calcium deficiency or osteoporosis, as directed by a physician.
• Children: Dosage should be determined by a healthcare professional based on age and specific needs.

Chewable tablets should be chewed thoroughly before swallowing. Swallowable tablets should be taken with water, preferably with or after meals to enhance absorption.

Side Effects: Calcium supplements are generally well-tolerated at recommended doses. High doses may lead to gastrointestinal disturbances such as constipation, flatulence, nausea, or stomach upset.

Precautions: Calbo 500 is contraindicated in patients with hypercalcemia (high levels of calcium in the blood), hyperparathyroidism, and renal calculi (kidney stones). Calcium supplements may interact with certain medications, including some antibiotics (e.g., tetracyclines, quinolones), bisphosphonates, and thyroid medications.
