Calgi-D 

Presentation: Film-coated tablets containing Algae Source Calcium Carbonate and Vitamin D3. Available in strengths of Calcium 500mg with Vitamin D3 200 IU, and Calcium 600mg with Vitamin D3 400 IU. Available in strips. Manufactured by NIPRO JMI Pharma Ltd. in Bangladesh.

Ingredients:

• Calgi-D (500mg + 200 IU): Calcium Carbonate (from Algae source) BP 1250 mg equivalent to elemental Calcium 500 mg, and Vitamin D3 200 IU as Cholecalciferol USP.
• Calgi-D (600mg + 400 IU): Calcium Carbonate (from Algae source) BP 1500 mg equivalent to elemental Calcium 600 mg, and Vitamin D3 400 IU as Cholecalciferol USP.

Indications: Indicated for the treatment of osteoporosis, rickets, osteomalacia, tetany, and hypoparathyroidism. Also used in pregnancy and lactation due to increased demand, in kidney disease and pancreatitis, and during therapy with antiseizure medications. It is used for the prevention and treatment of Calcium and Vitamin D3 deficiency.

Dosage & Administration:

• Calgi-D (500mg + 200 IU): Usual adult dose is 1 tablet in the morning and 1 tablet at night, taken orally.
• Calgi-D (600mg + 400 IU): Dosage should be as directed by a physician.

It is generally recommended to take the tablet with or just after a meal to improve absorption.

Side Effects: Common side effects may include an irregular heartbeat, nausea, dry mouth, weakness, headache, a metallic taste in the mouth, muscle or bone pain, and drowsiness. Rare sideeffects include a high amount of Calcium in the blood, constipation, diarrhea, and loss of appetite.

Precautions: Contraindicated in hypocalcemia, hypercalciuria, metastatic calcification, and hypersensitivity to any of the components. Caution should be taken in patients with renal impairment, sarcoidosis, hypercalcemia, and hypercalciuria. Not recommended for children under 12 years.  

Storage: Store below 30°C and away from light and moisture. Keep out of reach of children.
