Calgi-DX 

Presentation: Film-coated tablets containing Calcium (from Algae source) and Vitamin D3 (Cholecalciferol). Available in strengths of 500 mg elemental Calcium with 200 IU Vitamin D3, and 600 mg elemental Calcium with 400 IU Vitamin D3.

Ingredients: Calcium Carbonate (from Algae source) BP equivalent to elemental Calcium (either 500 mg or 600 mg) and Cholecalciferol (Vitamin D3) BP (either 200 IU or 400 IU).

Indications: Indicated for the treatment and prevention of osteoporosis, osteomalacia, rickets, tetany, and parathyroid disease. Also used to ensure adequate dietary intake of calcium and Vitamin D3 in conditions such as pregnancy and lactation, osteogenesis and tooth formation (as an adjunct), and therapy with anti-seizure medications. May also be used as a routine supplement and phosphate binder in chronic renal failure.

Dosage & Administration:

• Calcium 500 mg and Vitamin D3 200 IU Tablet: 2 tablets daily or 1 tablet twice daily.
• Calcium 600 mg and Vitamin D3 400 IU Tablet: 1 tablet twice daily. Best taken with or just after a meal to improve absorption.

Side Effects: Generally well-tolerated. Possible side effects include nausea, vomiting, stomach cramps, dry mouth, increased thirst, increased urination, and constipation.

Precautions: Contraindicated in patients with hypercalcaemia, hyperthyroidism, renal calculi, nephrolithiasis, and Zollinger-Ellison Syndrome. Caution should be taken in patients with pre-existing heart disease or kidney disease. May interact with calcium, aluminium, or magnesium-containing antacids and other calcium supplements, calcitriol and other Vitamin D3 supplements, digoxin, tetracycline, doxycycline, minocycline, or oxytetracycline.  

Storage: Keep in a dry place away from light and heat. Keep out of reach of children.
