Carben C 

Presentation: Effervescent tablets. Available in tubes. Manufactured by Benham Pharmaceuticals Ltd. in Bangladesh.

Ingredients: Each effervescent tablet typically contains Calcium Lactate Gluconate 1000 mg, Calcium Carbonate 327 mg (equivalent to elemental Calcium), and Vitamin C (Ascorbic Acid) 500 mg.

Indications: Indicated for conditions with increased demand for Calcium and Vitamin C, such as pregnancy, lactation, periods of rapid growth (childhood, adolescence), and old age. Also used during infectious diseases and convalescence, for the treatment of calcium and vitamin C deficiency, osteoporosis, premenstrual syndrome, postmenopausal problems, and as an adjuvant in colds and influenza.

Dosage and Administration:

• Adults & children above 7 years: 1 effervescent tablet daily.
• Children 3 to 7 years: ½ effervescent tablet daily. Dissolve one tablet in a glass of water before consumption.

Side Effects: In rare cases, mild gastrointestinal disturbances like bloating and diarrhea can occur. In predisposed patients, prolonged treatment with high doses may promote the formation of calculi in the urinary tract. Larger doses may lead to gastrointestinal tract upset.

Precautions: Contraindicated in hypercalcemia (e.g., in hyperparathyroidism, vitamin D overdosage, decalcifying tumors, bone metastases), severe hypercalciuria, severe renal failure, patients with hyperoxaluria, glucose-6-phosphate dehydrogenase deficiency, or iron overload. Monitoring of calcium excretion in the urine is required for patients with mild hypercalciuria, mild or moderate impairment of renal function, or a history of urinary stones. High doses of vitamin D and derivatives should be avoided unless specifically indicated. Since citrate salts have been reported to increase aluminum absorption, this medicine should be used with caution in patients with severely impaired renal function, especially those receiving aluminum-containing preparations. The sugar content should be taken into account by diabetic patients. May interact with digoxin, tetracycline, furosemide, and pentagastrin.

Storage: Store in a cool and dry place. Protect from heat, light, and moisture. Keep out of reach of children. Keep the tube tightly closed after each use.
