Presentation: Film-coated tablet containing Calcium Carbonate BP equivalent to 600 mg elemental Calcium, Vitamin D3 BP 200 IU, Magnesium Oxide BP equivalent to 40 mg Magnesium, Manganese Sulfate Monohydrate USP equivalent to 1.8 mg Manganese, Cupric Oxide equivalent to 1 mg Copper, Boron Citrate equivalent to 250 mcg Boron, and Zinc Oxide BP equivalent to 7.5 mg Zinc. Available in strips, manufactured by Globe Pharmaceuticals Ltd. in Bangladesh.
Indications: Indicated for the prevention and treatment of osteoporosis. To maintain strong bone growth. For proper functioning of the heart, muscles, and nerves. As a nutritional supplement. For bone development andregeneration. During pregnancy and lactation. In deficiency states of Calcium, Vitamin D3, Magnesium, Zinc, Copper, Manganese, and Boron.
Dosage and Administration: Usually 2 tablets per day, preferably 1 tablet in the morning and 1 tablet in the evening, or as directed by a physician. It is best taken with or just after main meals with a full glass of water.
Side Effects: Generally well-tolerated. Mild gastrointestinal disturbances such as constipation, flatulence, nausea, gastric pain, or diarrhea may occur. Skin rash has been occasionally reported with Vitamin D3 supplements.
Precautions: Contraindicated in hypercalcaemia resulting from myeloma, bone metastasis, or other malignant bone disease, sarcoidosis, primary hyperparathyroidism,Vitamin D3 overdosage, and severe renal failure. Hypersensitivity to any of the tablet ingredients. Relative contraindications include osteoporosis due to prolonged immobilization, renal stones, and severe hypercalciuria. Caution should be taken in patients with mild to moderate renal failure or mild hypercalciuria; periodic monitoring of plasma calcium levels and urinary calcium excretion is advisable. Avoid hypocalcaemia in digitalized patients. Certain foods may reduce calcium absorption. May interact with thiazide diuretics, digitalis and other cardiac glycosides, thyroxine, bisphosphonates, sodium fluoride, quinolone or tetracycline antibiotics, and iron; allow a minimum period of four hours before taking calcium with these medications.
