Cazep 200 Tablet - (200mg Carbamazepine)

Presentation: Each tablet contains 200 mg of Carbamazepine BP. 

Indications: Cazep 200 is an anticonvulsant medication used to treat:

• Certain types of seizures, including partial seizures, tonic-clonic seizures, and mixed seizures. It is not usually effective for absence seizures.
• Trigeminal neuralgia (severe facial nerve pain).
• Bipolar disorder (to help stabilize mood).

Dosage and Administration: The dosage of Cazep 200 varies depending on the condition being treated and the individual's response.

• Epilepsy (Adults and Children over 12 years): Initial dose is usually 200 mg once or twice daily, gradually increased to 800-1200 mg daily in divided doses.
• Epilepsy (Children 6-12 years): Initial dose is 100 mg twice daily, gradually increased to 400-800 mg daily in divided doses.
• Trigeminal Neuralgia: Initial dose is usually 100-200 mg once or twice daily, gradually increased to a maintenance dose of 400-800 mg daily.
• Bipolar Disorder: Initial dose is usually 200 mg twice daily, gradually increased to a maintenance dose of 400-600 mg daily.

Cazep 200 tablets should be swallowed whole with water and can be taken with or without food. It is important to take it at the same time(s) each day. Do not stop taking this medication abruptly without consulting your doctor.

Side Effects: Common side effects may include dizziness, drowsiness, unsteadiness, nausea, vomiting, and constipation. Less common but potentially serious side effects can occur, including skin rash (which can be severe), fever, sore throat, easy bruising or bleeding, yellowing of the skin or eyes, and dark urine. Seek immediate medical attention if you experience any of these serious side effects.

Precautions: Inform your doctor if you have a history of bone marrow suppression, liver or kidney problems, heart disease, glaucoma, or a blood disorder called porphyria. Carbamazepine can interact with many other medications, including other anticonvulsants, blood thinners, and certain antibiotics and antidepressants. It is important to tell your doctor about all medications you are taking. Use in pregnant women may be associated with risks to the fetus. Breastfeeding while taking Carbamazepine is generally not recommended. Avoid alcohol consumption. Carbamazepine may cause drowsiness, so caution should be exercised while driving or operating machinery.

Storage: Store below 30°C (86°F), protected from moisture. Keep out of the reach of children.
