Cecon

Presentation: Chewable tablets containing Ascorbic Acid (Vitamin C), typically 250 mg or 500 mg per tablet, often with a citrus flavor. The specific strength and flavor will be mentioned on the product packaging available in Bangladesh. The tablets are intended for oral administration and should be chewed before swallowing.

Indications: Indicated for the prevention and treatment of Vitamin C deficiency (scurvy). Vitamin C is essential for various bodily functions, including immune system support, collagen formation, antioxidant activity, and iron absorption. It may be used in individuals with inadequate dietary intake of Vitamin C or in conditions where there is an increased need, such as during infections or periods of stress. It also helps in wound healing and maintaining healthy gums and teeth.

Dosage and Administration:

  • Prevention of scurvy: 1 tablet daily.
  • Treatment of scurvy: 1-2 tablets daily, or as directed by a physician; the dose may be increased depending on the severity of the condition.
  • Other cases: 1 tablet daily or as directed by the physician.

The maximum safe daily dose is usually 2000 mg in divided doses. The chewable tablets should be chewed thoroughly before swallowing.

Side Effects: Generally well-tolerated at recommended doses. High doses may occasionally cause gastrointestinal disturbances such as diarrhea, nausea, or abdominal cramps. Other rare side effects may occur.

Precautions: Use with caution in individuals with a history of kidney stones or renal impairment. Diabetic patients should be aware that high doses of Vitamin C may affect blood glucose test results. Individuals with hemochromatosis, thalassemia, or sideroblastic anemia should also exercise caution due to the potential for increased iron absorption. High doses during pregnancy may affect the newborn.

Storage: Store in a cool, dry place, protected from light and moisture. Keep out of reach of children.
