Ceevit 100ml

Presentation: Syrup containing Vitamin C (Ascorbic Acid) at a strength of 100 mg per 5 ml. The syrup is typically available in a 100 ml bottle and is intended for oral administration, particularly for children and individuals who prefer a liquid formulation. It may contain flavorings and sweeteners to improve palatability.

Indications: Ceevit syrup is indicated for the prevention and treatment of Vitamin C deficiency. Vitamin C is essential for various bodily functions, including immune system support, collagen formation, wound healing, and iron absorption. It may be used in conditions such as scurvy, infections, and when there is increased demand for Vitamin C. It is also used as an immune booster in infants receiving unfortified formulas.

Dosage and Administration: The dosage should be determined by a physician based on age and individual needs. General guidelines are as follows:

• Children 1-3 years: 2.5 ml (½ teaspoonful) daily.
• Children 4-8 years: 5 ml (1 teaspoonful) daily.
• Children 9-13 years: 5-10 ml (1-2 teaspoonfuls) daily.
• For the treatment of deficiency: 12.5 ml (2½ teaspoonfuls) or more daily, as directed by a physician.

The syrup should be administered orally using a measuring spoon or cup to ensure accurate dosing. It can be taken with or without food.

Side Effects: Vitamin C is generally well-tolerated. However, high doses may lead to gastrointestinal disturbances such as diarrhea or abdominal discomfort. Other rare side effects may occur.

Precautions: Use with caution in individuals with a history of kidney stones or renal impairment. Diabetic patients should be aware that high doses of Vitamin C may affect blood glucose test results. Ingestion of megadoses during pregnancy has been reported to potentially cause scurvy in neonates.
