Clinosol Gold
Presentation: Sterile, aqueous solution containing amino acids (7%), glucose (10%), and electrolytes. Available in 500 ml bottles for intravenous infusion. Manufactured by Opsonin Pharma Ltd. in Bangladesh.
Indications: Indicated as a source of amino acids, glucose, and electrolytes for adult and pediatric patients requiring intravenous nutrition, particularly those with basal amino acid requirements. Suitable for postoperative periods and extended IV nutrition.
Dosage and Administration: Dosage is individualized based on the patient's condition, nutritional status, body weight, and metabolic needs. The nitrogen requirement for maintenance is typically 0.10-0.25 g/kg/day, corresponding to 11-27 ml/kg/day of this solution. Infuse slowly, not exceeding 1000 ml in 6 hours (approximately 2.8 ml/min). In obese patients, dose based on ideal body weight. In infants and children, maximum rate of 30 ml/kg/day with gradual increase in the first week. Administer intravenously under strict medical supervision.
Side Effects: Generally well-tolerated. Rare nausea. Possible vomiting, flushing, sweating (if infused too fast), transient liver function changes, hypersensitivity, thrombophlebitis (peripheral vein). May cause hyperphenylalaninemia in premature infants.
Precautions: Contraindicated in inborn errors of amino acid metabolism, severe liver damage, severe uremia without dialysis, and hyperosmolar nonketotic diabetic coma. Use caution in diabetes, severe heart failure, renal impairment with fluid restriction/oliguria/anuria. Monitor fluid balance, electrolytes, and blood glucose. Ensure adequate phosphate. Do not use if turbid or with particles.
Storage: Store at controlled room temperature, protected from light and freezing. Keep out of reach of children. Discard unused portion.
