Clofranil 25

Presentation: Each tablet contains Clomipramine Hydrochloride 25 mg.

Indications: Clofranil is indicated for the treatment of obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD). It may also be used in the treatment of major depressive disorder and panic disorder.

Dosage and Administration: The dosage is individualized and determined by the physician.

• Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder: The usual starting dose for adults is 25 mg once daily, gradually increased by the physician over several weeks to a maximum of 250 mg per day, administered in divided doses. For children and adolescents, the starting dose is usually 25 mg once daily, with gradual increases up to a maximum of 200 mg per day.
• Major Depressive Disorder and Panic Disorder: Dosage regimens vary; follow your physician's instructions carefully. Initial doses are typically lower and titrated gradually.

Clofranil tablets are administered orally. It is important to follow the physician's instructions regarding the timing and frequency of doses.

Side Effects: Common side effects may include dry mouth, constipation, blurred vision, drowsiness, dizziness, tremor, increased sweating, and sexual dysfunction. Less common side effects can include confusion, agitation, sleep disturbances, tachycardia (fast heartbeat), and orthostatic hypotension (low blood pressure upon standing). Rare but serious side effects may include seizures and cardiac arrhythmias.

Precautions: Inform your physician if you have a history of seizures, heart problems, glaucoma, difficulty urinating, or liver disease. Use caution with alcohol and other central nervous system depressants. May increase the risk of suicidal thoughts, especially in young adults. Inform your physician if you are pregnant or breastfeeding. Do not stop taking Clofranil abruptly, as withdrawal symptoms may occur.

Clofranil can interact with many other medications, including monoamine oxidase inhibitors (MAOIs) – it should not be used within 14 days of stopping an MAOI. Inform your doctor about all the medicines you are taking.

Storage: Store below 30°C in a dry place, protected from light. Keep out of reach of children.
