Cloma 0.5 Tablet contains 0.5 mg of Clonazepam.

Generic Name: Clonazepam

Manufacturer: Biopharma Ltd. (in Bangladesh)

Presentation: Each tablet contains Clonazepam USP 0.5 mg. 

Indications: Cloma is indicated for the treatment of:

  • Anxiety and panic disorder, with or without agoraphobia.
  • Epilepsy and other seizure disorders, including Lennox-Gastaut syndrome, akinetic, and myoclonic seizures. It may also be used in patients with absence seizures who have not responded to succinimides.

Dosage and Administration: The dosage is individualized by your doctor based on your condition and response to treatment.

  • Adults: The usual initial dose is 1 mg at night for 4 nights, then increased according to response over 2-4 weeks to a usual maintenance dose of 4-8 mg, usually at night, or divided into 3-4 doses if necessary. The elderly usually start with 0.5 mg.
  • Children (up to 1 year): Initial dose is 0.25 mg, increased as needed to a usual maintenance dose of 0.5-1 mg.
  • Children (1-5 years): Initial dose is 0.25 mg, increased as needed to 1-3 mg.
  • Children (5-12 years): Initial dose is 0.5 mg, increased as needed to 3-6 mg.

Cloma tablets can be taken with or without food. Follow your doctor's instructions carefully. Do not stop taking this medication suddenly without consulting your doctor, as withdrawal symptoms can occur.

Side Effects: The most frequently occurring side effects are related to central nervous system (CNS) depression and include:

  • Drowsiness (occurs in approximately 50% of patients)
  • Ataxia (impaired coordination, occurs in approximately 30% of patients)

Other potential side effects include:

  • Depression
  • Dizziness
  • Fatigue
  • Impaired coordination
  • Abnormal eye movements
  • Confusion
  • Memory problems
  • Behavioral disturbances (in about 25% of patients)
  • Slurred speech
  • Coma
  • Tremor
  • Vertigo
  • Hallucinations
  • Increased libido
  • Insomnia
  • Palpitations

Less common but potentially serious side effects can occur. Report any unusual or severe symptoms to your doctor immediately.

Precautions:

  • Inform your doctor about any pre-existing medical conditions, including liver or kidney problems, breathing problems, glaucoma, or a history of substance abuse.
  • Cloma may cause drowsiness and impair your ability to drive or operate machinery. Use caution until you know how this medication affects you.
  • Avoid consuming alcohol while taking Cloma, as it can intensify its sedative effects.
  • Cloma can be habit-forming and should be used exactly as prescribed. Do not increase the dose or take it for longer than recommended.
  • Inform your doctor if you are pregnant, planning to conceive, or breastfeeding, as clonazepam can harm a developing fetus or nursing infant.

Contraindications: Cloma is contraindicated in patients with:

  • Hypersensitivity to benzodiazepines.
  • Significant liver disease.
  • Acute narrow-angle glaucoma.

Drug Interactions: Cloma can interact with various medications. Inform your doctor about all the medicines you are currently taking, including prescription drugs, over-the-counter medications, and herbal supplements. Significant interactions can occur with other CNS depressants, certain antidepressants, and anticonvulsants.

Storage: Store in a cool and dry place, protected from light. Keep out of reach of children.
