Clonatril 0.5

Presentation: Each tablet contains Clonazepam 0.5 mg. Available in strips of 10 tablets (1 strip).

Indications: Clonatril is used to treat:

• Seizure disorders (epilepsy), including Lennox-Gastaut syndrome, akinetic, myoclonic, and absence seizures. It may be used alone or with other medications.
• Panic disorder, with or without agoraphobia.
• Anxiety disorders.
• Sometimes restless legs syndrome.
• May also have off-label uses such as acute mania, insomnia, and tardive dyskinesia.

Dosage and Administration: The dosage is highly individualized and determined by the physician based on the condition being treated, the patient's response, age, and weight.

• Seizure Disorders:
  • Adults: The usual initial dose is 0.5 mg three times daily. This may be gradually increased by 0.5 to 1 mg every 3 days until seizures are controlled or side effects become unmanageable. The maximum daily dose is usually 20 mg.
  • Children (up to 10 years or 30 kg): The initial dose is typically 0.01 to 0.03 mg/kg/day, divided into two or three doses, not exceeding 0.05 mg/kg/day. The maintenance dose is usually 0.1 to 0.2 mg/kg/day.
• Panic Disorder: The initial adult dose is 0.25 mg twice daily. After three days, the dose may be increased to 1 mg/day. Further increases of 0.125 to 0.25 mg twice daily every three days may be made until panic disorder is controlled, with a maximum daily dose of 4 mg.

Clonatril tablets are administered orally and can be taken with or without food. It's important to follow your doctor's instructions precisely and not to stop the medication suddenly due to the risk of withdrawal symptoms.

Side Effects: Common side effects may include:

• Drowsiness
• Dizziness
• Problems with coordination
• Fatigue
• Depression
• Memory problems

Less common or more serious side effects can include changes in mood or behavior, confusion, hallucinations, difficulty breathing, and allergic reactions.

Precautions: Inform your physician if you have a history of substance abuse, liver or kidney disease, glaucoma, breathing problems (like sleep apnea), or mental health disorders. Use caution with alcohol and other central nervous system depressants. Clonatril may impair the ability to drive or operate machinery. It has a high potential for dependence. Inform your physician if you are pregnant or breastfeeding.

Storage: Store in a dry place away from light and heat, below 30°C. Keep out of reach of children.
