Coracad-C 

Presentation: Effervescent tablets, typically available in tubes. Manufactured by Eskayef Pharmaceuticals Ltd. in Bangladesh.

Ingredients: Each effervescent tablet contains Calcium Carbonate (from Coral source) USP 327 mg (equivalent to elemental Calcium), Ascorbic Acid (Vitamin C) BP 500 mg, and Vitamin D3 400 IU as Colecalciferol BP.

Indications:

  • As an adjunct to specific therapy for osteoporosis. 
  • Increased demand for Calcium, Vitamin-C, and Vitamin-D such as pregnancy, lactation, periodsof rapid growth (childhood, adolescence), and in old age.
  • In osteomalacia.
  • Prevention and treatment of Calcium deficiency/Vitamin-D deficiency, especially in housebound and hospitalized elderly subjects. 
  • As an adjuvant in cold and influenza. 
  • Postmenopausal syndromes. 
  • Premenstrual symptoms. 
  • In high body temperatures. 
  • As an alkalizing agent in conditions with systemicacidosis.

Dosage & Administration:  

  • Adults and children above 7 years: 1 effervescent tablet daily. 
  • Children 3 to 7 years: ½ effervescent tabletdaily. Dissolve the tablet in half a glass of water and drink immediately.

Side Effects: Rarely, mild gastrointestinal disturbances such as constipation, flatulence, nausea, gastric pain, and diarrhea may occur. Occasional skin rash has been reported following Vitamin-D supplementation.

Precautions:In patients with a history of renal stones, urinary Calcium excretion should be measured. With long-term treatment, it is advisable to monitor serum and urinary Calcium levels and kidney function.Hypercalcemia should be avoided in digitalized patients. Certain foods may decrease Calcium absorption. Concomitant treatment with phenytoin or barbiturates can reduce the impact of Vitamin D. The impact of digitalis and other cardiac glycosides may be enhanced by taking Calcium with Vitamin D orally. Calcium salts may inhibitthe absorption of thyroxine, bisphosphonates, sodium fluoride, quinolone or tetracycline antibiotics, or iron.

Storage: Store below 25°C temperature, away from light and wet places. Keep out of reach of children. Keep the container tightly closed.
