Coral CD 

Presentation: Film-coated tablets containing Calcium Carbonate (from Coral source) and Vitamin D3 (Cholecalciferol). Available in strengths such as Calcium Carbonate 1250 mg (equivalent to elemental Calcium 500 mg) with Vitamin D3 200 IU, or Calcium Carbonate 1500 mg (equivalent to elemental Calcium 600 mg) with Vitamin D3 400 IU, in strips. Manufactured by Rangs Pharmaceuticals Ltd. in Bangladesh.

Ingredients: Calcium Carbonate USP (from Coral source) and Vitamin D3 USP (Cholecalciferol). The specific amount of elemental Calcium and Vitamin D3 will be mentioned on the product packaging.

Indications: Indicated for the prevention and treatment of calcium and Vitamin D3 deficiency. It is used in conditions such as osteoporosis, osteomalacia, rickets, tetany, and hypoparathyroidism. Also used as a supplement in individuals with low dietary intake, postmenopausal women, and the elderly to maintain bone health. May also be used in other conditions as directed by a physician.

Dosage and Administration: One tablet once daily, or as directed by a physician. It is usually taken orally with water, preferably with food to enhance absorption. Dosage may vary based on individual needs and the specific condition being treated.

Side Effects: Common side effects may include constipation and upset stomach. Other possible side effects include nausea, vomiting, loss of appetite, unusual weight loss, mental/mood changes, bone/muscle pain, headache, increased thirst/urination, weakness,and tiredness. Hypercalcemia (high calcium levels in the blood) may occur with prolonged use or in susceptible individuals.

Precautions: Contraindicated in patients with hypercalcaemia, hypervitaminosis D, hyperparathyroidism, bone metastases, severe renal insufficiency, severe hypercalciuria, and kidney stones. Caution should be exercised in patients with mild to moderate renal impairment, a history of kidney stones, heart disease, or other medical conditions. May interact with certain medications, including thiazide diuretics, tetracycline antibiotics, bisphosphonates, and cardiac glycosides. Separate administration times may be necessary for some medications. Use during pregnancy and lactation should be under medical supervision, and the daily intake should not exceed recommended limits.

Storage: Store at a temperature below 30°C, protected from light and moisture. Keep out of reach of children.
