Cortan 50ml

Presentation: Cortan 50ml is an oral solution containing prednisolone sodium phosphate equivalent to 5 mg of prednisolone in each 5 ml. It is available in bottles of 50 ml. Cortan is a product of Incepta Pharmaceuticals Ltd. in Bangladesh.

Indications: Cortan (prednisolone) is a corticosteroid indicated for the treatment of a wide variety of inflammatory and allergic conditions, including:

• Rheumatic disorders such as rheumatoid arthritis and ankylosing spondylitis.  
• Endocrine disorders such as adrenocortical insufficiency.  
• Dermatologic diseases such as severe psoriasis and pemphigus.
• Allergic states such as bronchial asthma and allergic rhinitis.  
• Respiratory diseases such as symptomatic sarcoidosis.  
• Hematologic disorders such as idiopathic thrombocytopenic purpura.  
• Edematous states such as nephrotic syndrome.  
• Gastrointestinal diseases such as ulcerative colitis and regional enteritis.  

Dosage and Administration:The dosage of Cortan 50ml oral solution varies depending on the condition being treated and the patient's response.The initial dose may range from 5 mg to 60 mg per day. It is usually administered orally, and the solution can be measured using a suitable measuring device. The doctor will determine the appropriate dose and duration of treatment. It is important to follow the doctor's instructions carefully and not to stop taking the medication abruptly without consulting them, as gradual withdrawal may be necessary.  

Side Effects: Common side effects may include increased appetite, weight gain, fluid retention, mood changes, trouble sleeping, increased blood sugar, and increased blood pressure. Long-term use may lead to more serious side effects such as osteoporosis, muscle weakness, increased risk of infection, glaucoma, and cataracts.  

Precautions: Cortan is contraindicated in patients with systemic fungal infections and known hypersensitivity to prednisolone or any of its components. Caution should be exercised in patients with diabetes mellitus, heart failure, high blood pressure, kidney disease, liver disease, osteoporosis, peptic ulcer, glaucoma, and certain infections. Live vaccines should not be given to patients receiving immunosuppressive doses of corticosteroids.

Storage:Store below 25°C, protected from light.Keep out of reach of children. Use within 3 months after opening the bottle.
