Crezyme 325 

Presentation: Crezyme 325 is available as enteric-coated tablets. Each tablet contains 325 mg of Pancreatin BP. 

Indications: Crezyme 325 is indicated for the treatment of digestive disorders due to pancreatic enzyme deficiency in conditions such as:

• Chronic pancreatitis  
• Cystic fibrosis (Mucoviscidosis)  
• Following partial or complete pancreatectomy  
• Total gastrectomy  
• Steatorrhea(fatty stools)
• Somatostatinoma
• Celiac disease
• Other conditions associated with pancreatic insufficiency

Dosage and Administration: The usual dose is 1-3 tablets daily with meals, or as directed by a physician. The tablets should be swallowed whole with a little water immediately after or during a meal. Do not crush or chew the tablets. The dosage is based on the severity of the pancreatic enzyme deficiency and the fat content of the meal.

Side Effects: The most frequent side effects are gastrointestinal, including:

• Nausea
• Vomiting
• Abdominal discomfort Less frequent side effects may include:
• Buccal and perianal soreness (particularly in infants)
• Hypersensitivity reactions (sneezing, lacrimation, skin rashes)

Precautions:

• Crezyme 325 is contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to pancreatin or any of the excipients.
• Patients known to be allergic to animal protein should use Crezyme 325 with caution.
• The enteric coating of Crezyme 325 may be damaged by alkaline media, so concurrent use with antacids should be avoided.
• High doses of pancreatin in patients with cystic fibrosis have been associated with fibrosing colonopathy (stricture of the large intestine), so caution and appropriate dosage are important in this population. Maintain adequate hydration.
• Pregnancy and Lactation: Pancreatin should be given to a pregnant woman only if clearly needed. Caution should be exercised when administering Crezyme 325 to a nursing mother as it is not known whether the drug is excreted in human milk.

Storage: Keep all medicines out of reach of children. Store in a cool and dry place, protected from light.
