D-Cap is a fat-soluble vitamin essential for calcium absorption, bone health, and immune system support. It is particularly important for those with limited sun exposure or diets lacking in Vitamin D.
Bone Health: Prevents and treats rickets (children), osteomalacia (adults), and osteoporosis.
Pregnancy & Nursing: Essential for preventing pre-eclampsia and supporting the growing infant's development.

Treatment (Deficiency):
Adults: 40,000 IU once weekly for 7 weeks, followed by maintenance (1,400–2,000 IU/day).
Children (12–18 yrs): 20,000 IU every 2 weeks for 6 weeks.
Prevention:
Adults: 20,000 IU every 4 weeks.
Children (12–18 yrs): 20,000 IU every 6 weeks.
Tablets/Oral Solution: 1,000–2,000 IU daily (usually taken with food).
Injection: Can be given orally (mixed with water/milk) or via IM injection as per clinical severity.
Side Effects: Generally safe; however, excessive intake can lead to hypercalcaemia (too much calcium), causing nausea, headache, constipation, or loss of appetite.
Contraindications: 🛑 Do not use if you have hypercalcaemia (high blood calcium), Vitamin D toxicity, or known hypersensitivity.
Drug Interactions:
Phenytoin/Barbiturates: May decrease Vitamin D effectiveness.
Digoxin: Vitamin D can increase the risk of heart rhythm issues; use under strict medical supervision.
Antifungals/Glucocorticoids: May interfere with how the body processes the vitamin.
Safe Use: Up to 4,000 IU is considered safe during pregnancy.
Breastfeeding: Vitamin D passes into breast milk. If the baby is also getting a supplement, the mother's dose should be adjusted accordingly.
