D-Gest 10

Presentation: Each tablet contains 10 mg of dydrogesterone BP.

Indications: D-Gest is indicated for the treatment of progesterone deficiency-related gynecological disorders, including:

• Threatened and habitual miscarriage  
• Dysmenorrhea  
• Endometriosis  
• Secondary amenorrhea  
• Irregular cycles  
• Dysfunctional uterine bleeding  
• Pre-menstrual syndrome  
• Infertility due to luteal insufficiency  
• Luteal support as part ofAssisted Reproductive Technology (ART)
• Hormone Replacement Therapy (HRT) to counteract the effects of unopposed estrogen on the endometrium in women with an intact uterus.

Dosage and Administration: The dosage varies depending on the indication and should be strictly followed as prescribed by the physician. Some common dosages include:

• Threatened Miscarriage: 40 mg (4 tablets) at once, then 10 mg (1 tablet) every eight hours until symptoms remit.
• Habitual Miscarriage: 10 mg (1 tablet) twice daily until the twentieth week of pregnancy.
• Dysmenorrhea: 10 mg (1 tablet) twice daily from day 5 to day 25 of the menstrual cycle.
• Endometriosis: 10 mg (1 tablet) two or three times daily from day 5 to day 25 of the cycle or continuously.
• Irregular Cycles: 10 mg (1 tablet) daily from day 11 to day 25 of the cycle.
• Secondary Amenorrhea: An estrogen should be given concurrently once daily from day 1 to day 25 of the cycle, along with 10 mg of D-Gest twice daily from day 11 to day 25 of the cycle.

D-Gest 10 tablets are for oral administration and can be taken with or without food.

Side Effects: The most commonly reported adverse drug reactions include:

• Migraines/headache
• Nausea
• Menstrual disorders
• Breast pain/tenderness

Other possible side effects may include abdominal pain, bloating, dizziness, depression, and mood swings.

Precautions: D-Gest is contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to dydrogesterone or any of the excipients and in cases of known or suspected progestogen-dependent neoplasms (e.g., meningioma). Caution should be exercised in patients with severe headache, migraine, symptoms indicative of cerebral ischemia, marked increase in blood pressure, or occurrence of venous thromboembolism. The etiology of abnormal bleeding should be clarified before initiating treatment.

Storage: Store below 30°C, protected from moisture. Keep out of reach of children.
