Danamet 200

Presentation:Each capsule contains 200 mg of danazol.

Indications: Danamet (danazol) is indicated for the treatment of:

• Endometriosis 
• Benign breast disease (fibrocystic breast disease) 
• Menorrhagia (heavy menstrual bleeding) 
• Gynecomastia (enlargement of male breast tissue) 
• Preoperative thinning of the endometrium 
• Hereditary angioedema  

Dosage and Administration: Dosage varies by condition:

• Endometriosis:200-800 mg daily in divided doses, usually for 3-6 months. 
• Menorrhagia: 100-200 mg daily, often 200 mg daily for 3 months.
• Benign Breast Disease:100-400 mg daily for 3-6 months. 
• Gynecomastia: 400 mg daily in divided doses for 6 months (adolescents may have different initial doses).
• Preoperative thinning of the endometrium:400-800 mg daily in divided doses for 3-6 weeks. 
• Hereditary Angioedema:Initial dose for adults is usually 200 mg two or three times daily, adjusted as needed.  

Can be taken with or without food, but consistency is advised. Follow physician's instructions.

Side Effects: Common side effects may include weight gain, acne, hirsutism, voice changes, oily skin/hair, flushing, sweating, decreased breast size, menstrual disturbances, headache, nausea, dizziness, and mood changes. Less common but serious: liver dysfunction, benign intracranial hypertension, thromboembolic events.

Precautions: Contraindicated in pregnancy and breastfeeding. Avoid in porphyria, thromboembolic disease, undiagnosed abnormal genital bleeding, severe hepatic, renal, or cardiac impairment, and androgen-dependent tumors. Use caution in epilepsy, migraine, polycythemia, diabetes, hypertension, and history of thrombosis. May interact with insulin, estrogens, progestogens, anticonvulsants, and antihypertensive agents.

Storage: Store below 30°C, away from light and moisture. Keep out of reach of children.
