Indications: Dapaglip (dapagliflozin) is indicated as an adjunct to diet and exercise to improve glycemic control in adults with type 2 diabetesmellitus.  

Dosage and Administration:The recommended starting doseof Dapaglip is 5 mg once daily, taken in the morning, with or without food. In patients tolerating Dapaglip 5 mg once daily who require additional glycemic control, the dose can be increased to 10 mg once daily. Assessment of renal function is recommended prior to initiation of Dapagliptherapy and periodically thereafter. Dapaglip should not be initiated in patients with an eGFR less than 60 mL/min/1.73 m².

Side Effects: Common side effects may include genital mycotic infections (both in females and males), urinary tract infections, and increased urination. Other possible side effects include nasopharyngitis, back pain, nausea, dyslipidemia, constipation, and discomfort with urination. Hypoglycemia may occur when used in combination with insulin or insulin secretagogues.

Precautions: Dapaglip is contraindicated in patients with severe renal impairment, end-stage renal disease, or those on dialysis. It is also contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to dapagliflozin or any of its excipients. Before initiating Dapaglip, volume status should be assessed and corrected in patients who are volume-depleted. Caution should be exercised in patients with a history of hypotension, urinary tract infections, and in elderly patients.
