Presentation: Each tablet contains Dapagliflozin Propanediol equivalent to Dapagliflozin 10 mg. Available in strips.
Indications: Dapazin 10 mg is indicated as an adjunct to diet and exercise to improve glycemic control in adults with type 2 diabetes mellitus. It is alsoindicated to reduce the risk of hospitalization for heart failure in adults with type 2 diabetes mellitus and established cardiovascular disease or multiple cardiovascular risk factors, and to reduce the risk of cardiovascular death and hospitalization for heart failure in adults with heart failure. Additionally, it is used to reduce the risk of sustained eGFR decline, end-stage kidney disease, cardiovascular death, and hospitalization for heart failure in adults with chronic kidney disease.
Dosage and Administration: The recommended starting dose for type 2 diabetes is 5 mg once daily, usually taken in the morning, with or without food. The dose may be increased to 10 mg once daily in patients tolerating the 5 mg dose who require additional glycemic control. For heart failure and chronic kidney disease, the usual dose is 10 mg once daily. Dosage should be individualized based on patient response and renal function. Assessment of renal function is recommended prior to initiation and periodically thereafter.
Side Effects: Common side effects may include genital fungal infections, urinary tract infections, increased urination, and nasopharyngitis. Other possible side effects include nausea, dyslipidemia, constipation, and discomfort with urination. Serious side effects may include ketoacidosis, dehydration, and severe urinary tract infections.
Precautions: Contraindicated in patients with hypersensitivity to dapagliflozin or any of the excipients, severe renal impairment, end-stage renal disease, or patients on dialysis. Not recommended in patients with moderate renal impairment for glycemic control. Use with caution in patients with cardiovascular disease, history of hypotension, urinary tract infections, and in elderly patients. Volume status should be assessed and corrected before initiating therapy. May increase the risk of hypoglycemia when used with insulin or sulfonylureas.
Storage: Store below 30°C in a dry place, protected from light and moisture. Keep out of reach of children.
