Deflazit 

Presentation: Each tablet contains Deflazacort BP in varying strengths (e.g., 6 mg, 30 mg). Refer to the product packaging for the specific strength. Available in strips.

Indications: Deflazit is a corticosteroid indicated for the treatment of various inflammatory and autoimmune conditions, including:

• Rheumatoid arthritis
• Juvenile idiopathic arthritis
• Polymyalgia rheumatica
• Systemic lupus erythematosus
• Asthma
• Allergic disorders
• Inflammatory bowel disease (e.g., Crohn's disease, ulcerative colitis)
• Nephrotic syndrome
• Multiple sclerosis
• Certain hematologic disorders
• Duchenne muscular dystrophy

The specific indication and dosage will depend on the condition being treated and the patient's response.

Dosage and Administration: Dosage varies widely depending on the condition, its severity, and the patient's response. The physician will prescribe the appropriate strength and number of tablets. The total daily dose is usually administered orally in single or divided doses. It is often recommended to take Deflazit with food to minimize stomach upset. Do not stop taking this medication abruptly, especially after long-term use, as this can lead to withdrawal symptoms; dosage should be gradually reduced under medical supervision.

Side Effects: Common side effects may include increased appetite, weight gain, fluid retention (swelling), mood changes, difficulty sleeping, increased sweating, and facial rounding (moon face). Long-term use may lead to more serious side effects such as osteoporosis, increased risk of infections, high blood pressure, diabetes mellitus, cataracts, and muscle weakness. Compared to other corticosteroids, Deflazacort may have a lower propensity for causing bone loss.

Precautions: Contraindicated in patients with systemic fungal infections and known hypersensitivity to deflazacort or other corticosteroids. Use with caution in patients with diabetes mellitus, hypertension, peptic ulcer, osteoporosis, heart disease, kidney disease, liver disease, and psychiatric disorders. Inform your doctor if you have any infections or have recently been exposed to chickenpox or measles. Avoid live vaccinations while on this medication. Long-term use in children may affect growth. Use in pregnancy and breastfeeding should be under strict medical supervision.

Storage: Store below 30°C in a dry place, protected from light. Keep out of reach of children.
