💊 Delfex (Fexofenadine Hydrochloride)

Delfex is a non-sedating antihistamine used to relieve allergy symptoms. It works by blocking H1 histamine receptors without crossing the blood-brain barrier, which means it generally doesn't cause drowsiness.

📋 Primary Indications

• Allergic Rhinitis: Relieves sneezing, runny nose, itchy/watery eyes, and itchy throat in adults and children (2+ years for suspension).

• Chronic Urticaria: Reduces hives (wheals) and itching in adults and children (6 months+ for suspension).

🥄 Dosage & Administration

Adults & Children (12+ years):

• Standard Dose: 60 mg twice daily OR 120 mg/180 mg once daily.

• Renal Impairment: Start with 60 mg once daily.

Children (6–11 years):

• Tablet: 30 mg twice daily OR 60 mg once daily.

Children (Suspension):

• 2 to 11 years: 30 mg (5 ml) twice daily.

• 6 months to <2 years: 15 mg (2.5 ml) twice daily.

⚠️ Safety & Interactions

• Antacid Interaction: 🛑 Do not take antacids containing aluminum or magnesium within 2 hours of Delfex, as they make the medicine less effective.

• Common Side Effects: Headache, drowsiness, dizziness, and nausea.

• Heart Health: Use with care if you have a history of cardiovascular disease, as palpitations may rarely occur.

• Pregnancy & Lactation: Use during pregnancy only if clearly necessary. It is not recommended while breastfeeding.

🚗 Driving & Activities

Delfex is unlikely to affect your ability to drive. However, it’s wise to see how you react to the medication before driving or operating heavy machinery.
