Deltapred 10

Presentation: Tablets containing 10 mg of prednisolone.

Indications: Deltapred 10 is a corticosteroid indicated for the treatment of a wide range of inflammatory and autoimmune conditions. These may include: endocrine disorders, rheumatic disorders (e.g., rheumatoid arthritis), collagen diseases (e.g., systemic lupus erythematosus), allergic states (e.g., severe asthma, allergic rhinitis), dermatologic diseases (e.g., severe eczema), respiratory diseases (e.g., asthma exacerbations, COPD exacerbations), hematologic disorders, neoplastic diseases, gastrointestinal diseases (e.g., ulcerative colitis, Crohn's disease), and nervous system disorders (e.g., multiple sclerosis exacerbations). The specific condition for which Deltapred 10 is prescribed will be determined by your doctor.

Dosage and Administration: The dosage of Deltapred 10 varies depending on the condition being treated, its severity, and the patient's response. It is administered orally. Your doctor will determine the appropriate starting dose and may adjust it over time. Follow your doctor's instructions precisely regarding the dose and duration of treatment. Do not stop taking Deltapred 10 suddenly without consulting your doctor, as this may lead to withdrawal symptoms. It is usually taken at the same time each day, preferably in the morning to mimic the body's natural cortisol production.

Side Effects: Common side effects of prednisolone, as with other corticosteroids, may include increased appetite, weight gain, fluid retention, mood changes, insomnia, increased blood sugar levels, and increased blood pressure. Long-term use may lead to more serious side effects such as osteoporosis, muscle weakness, skin thinning, increased susceptibility to infections, cataracts, and glaucoma. Report any persistent or troublesome side effects to your doctor.

Precautions:

• Inform your doctor about any pre-existing medical conditions, especially diabetes, high blood pressure, heart problems, stomach ulcers, osteoporosis, infections (including tuberculosis or recent exposure to chickenpox or measles), glaucoma, cataracts, thyroid problems, or mental health disorders.
• Deltapred 10 can suppress the immune system, increasing the risk of infections. Avoid contact with people who have contagious illnesses.
• Long-term use of corticosteroids can affect growth in children. Your child's growth should be monitored regularly by the doctor.
• Do not receive live vaccines while taking Deltapred 10 without your doctor's approval.
• Inform your doctor if you are pregnant, planning to become pregnant, or breastfeeding, as prednisolone may have effects on the developing baby or breast milk.
• Be aware of potential drug interactions and inform your doctor about all other medications you are taking, including over-the-counter drugs and herbal supplements. 
• It is importantto carry a steroid warning card if you are on long-term treatment with Deltapred 10.

Storage: Store below 30°C, protected from light and moisture. Keep out of the reach of children.
