Dementa XR 14 Capsule

Presentation: Each extended-release capsule contains 14 mg of Memantine Hydrochloride. 

Indications: Dementa XR is used to treat moderate to severe dementia associated with Alzheimer's disease. It belongs to a group of medicines called anti-dementia agents and works by decreasing abnormal activity in the brain, potentially improving memory and thinking or slowing their loss.

Dosage and Administration: The recommended starting dose is 7 mg once daily, increased weekly in 7 mg increments to a maintenance dose of 28 mg once daily. For severe kidney impairment, the maximum recommended dose is 14 mg once daily. The capsule should be swallowed whole or opened and sprinkled on applesauce; do not chew or crush. It can be taken with or without food, at the same time each day. If a dose is missed, skip it and take the next dose as scheduled.

Side Effects: Common side effects may include dizziness, headache, confusion, and constipation. Less frequent side effects include sleepiness, diarrhea, balance disorders, and high blood pressure. Inform your doctor promptly if any side effects persist or worsen.

Precautions: Use with caution in patients with severe kidney or liver disease, and a history of seizures. It may cause dizziness and sleepiness, so avoid driving or operating machinery until you know how it affects you. Caution is advised with alcohol. Inform your doctor about all other medications, including over-the-counter drugs and supplements.

Storage: Store in a cool and dry place, protected from light. Keep out of reach of children.
