Detonix 

Presentation: Detonix 20 Tablet, available in Bangladesh, contains Pantoprazole Sodium equivalent to Pantoprazole 20 mg. It is presented as enteric-coated tablets for oral administration, usually available in strips or blister packs containing 15 tablets per strip. The color and shape of the tablet may vary depending on the manufacturer. The enteric coating helps the tablet pass through the stomach without dissolving, releasing the medication in the intestine.

Indications: Detonix (Pantoprazole) is indicated for the treatment of acid-related disorders, including:

• Benign gastric ulcer
• Gastro-esophageal reflux disease (GERD)
• Duodenal ulcer
• Duodenal ulcer associated with Helicobacter pylori (in combination with antibiotics)
• Prophylaxis of NSAID-associated gastric or duodenal ulcer
• Zollinger-Ellison Syndrome

Dosage and Administration: Detonix 20mg tablets should be swallowed whole and should not be chewed or crushed. It is recommended to take Detonix on an empty stomach, one hour before a meal, preferably in the morning. The dosage will vary depending on the condition being treated and the patient's response. Always follow your doctor's specific instructions.

• Benign gastric ulcer: 40 mg daily in the morning for 4 weeks, continued for a further 4 weeks if not fully healed.  
• Gastro-esophageal reflux disease:20-40 mg daily in the morning for 4 weeks, continuedfor a further 4 weeks if not fully healed; maintenance dose is 20 mg daily, which may be increased to 40 mg daily.  
• Duodenal ulcer:40 mg daily in the morning for 2 weeks, continued fora further 2 weeks if not fully healed.  
• Duodenal ulcer associated with Helicobacter pylori:Detonix 20 mg is recommended at a dose of 40 mg twice daily in association with antimicrobial agentsfor one week (Amoxycillin 1 g and Clarithromycin 500 mg both twice daily, or Clarithromycin 250 mg and Metronidazole 400 mg both twice daily).
• Prophylaxis of NSAID-associated gastric or duodenal ulcer:20 mg daily for those requiring long-term NSAID treatment.  
• Zollinger-Ellison Syndrome:Initially 80 mg once daily adjusted according to response (elderly max. 40 mg daily); dailydoses above 80 mg given in 2 divided doses.  

Side Effects: Detonix (Pantoprazole) is generally well-tolerated. Common side effects may include headache and diarrhea. Less frequently reported side effects are abdominal pain, flatulence, rash, sleeplessness, and hyperglycemia.

Precautions: Detonix (Pantoprazole) is contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to any of the components of the formulation. Patients should be advised not to split, chew, or crush the Detonix tablet. Long-term use of Pantoprazole may lead to malabsorption of cyanocobalamin (Vitamin B12) or increase the risk of osteoporosis-related disorders. Gastric malignancy should be excluded before initiating therapy. It should be used during pregnancy only if clearly necessary, and a decision should be made whether to discontinue nursing or the drug, considering the benefit to the mother.

Storage: Keep dry and away from heat and light. Keep out of reach of children.
