Dezacot 6 

Presentation: Each tablet of Dezacot 6 contains 6 mg of Deflazacort. It is available in strips. The tablets have specific shapes and markings depending on the manufacturer in Bangladesh (Opsonin Pharma Ltd.).

Indications: Dezacot (deflazacort) is a corticosteroid indicated for various inflammatory and autoimmune conditions, including:

• Anaphylaxis, asthma, severe hypersensitivity reactions. 
• Rheumatoid arthritis, juvenile chronic arthritis, polymyalgia rheumatica. 
• Systemic lupus erythematosus, dermatomyositis, mixed connective tissue disease. 
• Pemphigus, bullous pemphigoid, pyoderma gangrenosum. 
• Minimal change nephrotic syndrome, acute interstitial nephritis. 
• Rheumatic carditis. 
• Ulcerative colitis, Crohn's disease. 
• Uveitis, optic neuritis. 
• Autoimmunehemolytic anemia, idiopathic thrombocytopenic purpura. 
• Acute and lymphatic leukemia, malignant lymphoma, multiplemyeloma (for palliative management).
• Immune suppression in transplantation.
• Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy in patients 5 years of age and older.

Dosage and Administration: The dosage of Dezacot 6 is individualized based on the condition being treated and the patient's response.

• Adults: For acute disorders, up to 120 mg/day may be needed initially. Maintenance doses are usually 3-18 mg/day.
• Rheumatoid arthritis: Maintenance dose is usually 3-18 mg/day.
• Bronchial asthma: For acute attacks, 48-72 mg/day may be needed initially, then gradually reduced. Maintenance dose should be the lowest effective dose.
• Children: Doses usually range from 0.25-1.5 mg/kg/day, often given on alternate days. For Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy in patients ≥ 5 years, the dose is 0.9 mg/kg/day once orally.
• Dezacot is usually taken orally. Follow your doctor's specific instructions. Withdrawal should not be abrupt after prolonged high-dose therapy.

Side Effects: Common side effects may include increased appetite, weight gain, fluid retention, high blood pressure, mood changes, trouble sleeping, acne, increased hair growth, thinning skin, easy bruising, impaired wound healing, increased risk of infections, osteoporosis, muscle weakness, cataracts, and increased blood sugar.

Precautions: Dezacot (deflazacort) is contraindicated in patients with systemic fungal infections and known hypersensitivity to deflazacort or any of its excipients, and in patients receiving live virus immunization. Use with caution in patients with liver enzyme inducers/inhibitors, cardiac disease, hypertension, thromboembolic disorders, gastrointestinal issues, diabetes mellitus, osteoporosis, psychiatric conditions, epilepsy, and active infections. Use in pregnancy and lactation should be carefully considered. Live virus vaccines should generally not be given to patients receiving corticosteroids.

Storage: Store below 30°C in a dry place, protected from light and moisture. Keep out of reach of children.
