Dezacot 60 

Presentation: Each tablet contains Deflazacort 60 mg. Available in strips.

Indications: Dezacot 60 mg is a corticosteroid indicated for the treatment of various inflammatory and autoimmune conditions, including:

• Rheumatoid arthritis
• Asthma
• Systemic lupus erythematosus
• Inflammatory bowel disease (ulcerative colitis, Crohn's disease)
• Nephrotic syndrome
• Certain hematologic disorders
• Duchenne muscular dystrophy

Dosage and Administration: Dosage varies depending on the condition being treated and the patient's response.

• Adults: The initial dose may range from 6 to 90 mg per day. For Dezacot 60 mg, the physician will determine the number of tablets based on the required dose. Maintenance doses are usually lower and are gradually reduced to the lowest effective dose.
• Children: Dosage is usually determined based on body weight and the specific condition.

The total daily dose is usually administered orally once daily, preferably in the morning. Follow your physician's instructions carefully regarding the dose and duration of treatment. Do not stop taking this medication abruptly, especially after long-term use, as this can lead to withdrawal symptoms; dosage should be gradually reduced under medical supervision.

Side Effects: Common side effects may include increased appetite, weight gain, fluid retention (swelling), mood changes, difficulty sleeping, and increased sweating.

Long-term use may lead to more serious side effects such as:

• Osteoporosis (thinning of bones)
• Increased risk of infections
• High blood pressure
• Diabetes mellitus
• Cataracts and glaucoma
• Muscle weakness

Compared to other corticosteroids, deflazacort may have a lower incidence of some side effects, such as weight gain and hypertension; however, all potential side effects should be discussed with the prescribing physician.

Precautions:

• Contraindicated in patients with systemic fungal infections and known hypersensitivity to deflazacort or other corticosteroids.
• Use with caution in patients with diabetes mellitus, hypertension, peptic ulcer, osteoporosis, heart disease, kidney disease, liver disease, and psychiatric disorders.
• Inform your doctor if you have any infections or have recently been exposed to chickenpox or measles.
• Avoid live vaccinations while on this medication.
• Long-term use in children may affect growth.
• Use in pregnancy and breastfeeding should be under strict medical supervision.

Storage: Store below 30°C in a dry place, protected from light. Keep out of reach of children.
