Dianide 500 

Presentation:Dianide 500, available in Bangladesh, contains Nitazoxanide 500 mgper film-coated tablet.It is usually available in blister packs containing a specific number of tablets. Dianide is a product of General Pharmaceuticals Ltd.  

Indications: Dianide (Nitazoxanide) is indicated for the treatment of diarrhea caused by:

• Cryptosporidium parvum   
• Giardia lamblia   
• Entamoeba histolytica   

It is also used in the treatment of worm infections and may have other uses as determined by a healthcare professional.  

Dosage and Administration: The dosage of Dianide 500 depends on the age of the patient and the specific infection being treated. It is recommended to be administered with food.  

• Adults and children over 12 years:Usually one 500 mg tablet every 12 hours for 3 days.  

Always follow the specific instructions provided by your physician for the correct dosage and duration of treatment.

Side Effects: The most frequently reported side effects with Dianide (Nitazoxanide) are abdominal pain, vomiting, and headache. These side effects are typically mild and transient. Less frequent side effects may include nausea, anorexia, flatulence, and discolored urine.

Precautions:Dianide (Nitazoxanide) is contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to Nitazoxanide or any components of the preparation.Caution should be exercised when administering Dianide concurrently with other highly plasma protein-bound drugs with narrow therapeutic indices,such as warfarin.Dianide should be administered with caution to patients with hepatic, biliary, or renal disease.  

Use in Pregnancy and Breastfeeding:There are no adequate and well-controlled studies in pregnant women.Dianide should be used during pregnancy only if clearly needed. It has been shown to be excreted in human milk, so caution should be exercised when administered to a nursing woman.  

Storage: Keep in a dry place away from light and heat. Keep out of the reach of children. Store below 30°C.
