Diapro 60 MR

Presentation:Each modified-release tablet contains 60 mg of gliclazide.

Indications:Diapro MR is indicated for the treatment of type 2 diabetes mellitus in adults when diet, exercise, and weight reduction alone are not sufficient to achieve adequate glycemic control.  

Dosage and Administration:Diapro 60 MR tablets are for oral administration and should be swallowed whole with a glass of water, usually once daily with breakfast.It is important to take the tablet at the same time each day and to eat regular meals.

• The usual starting dose is 30 mg or 60 mg once daily.
• Dosage adjustments are made gradually based on blood glucose response, usually in increments of 30 mg every 2 weeks.
• The maximum recommended daily dose is 120 mg.  
• Diapro MR can be used alone or in combination with other oral antidiabetic agents or insulin.  
• When switching from standard gliclazide tablets, the dose may need to be adjusted under medical supervision.

Side Effects:

• Very Common:Hypoglycemia (low blood sugar).Symptoms may include sweating, paleness, anxiety, tremor, increased heart rate, hunger, headache, drowsiness, confusion, and visual disturbances.
• Common: Weight gain, gastrointestinal disturbances (nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, constipation, abdominal discomfort).
• Uncommon: Skin reactions (rash, itching, urticaria).
• Rare:Blood disorders (thrombocytopenia, leukopenia, agranulocytosis), liver problems (jaundice, elevated liver enzymes).  

Precautions:

Diapro MR is contraindicated in patients with:

• Type 1 diabetes mellitus.
• Diabetic ketoacidosis.
• Severe renal or hepatic impairment.  
• Hypersensitivity to gliclazide, other sulfonylureas, or sulfonamides.  

Caution should be exercised in patients with:

• Mild to moderate renal or hepatic impairment (dosage adjustment may be necessary).
• Glucose-6-phosphate dehydrogenase (G6PD) deficiency (may lead to hemolytic anemia).  
• Conditions that may predispose to hypoglycemia (e.g., irregular meals, strenuous exercise, alcohol consumption, certain medications).
• Elderly patients (may be more susceptible to hypoglycemia).  

Regular monitoring of blood glucose levels is essential during treatment with Diapro MR. Patients should be educated on the symptoms of hypoglycemia and how to manage them. Inform your doctor about all other medications you are taking, including over-the-counter drugs and herbal supplements, assome medications can interact with gliclazide and affect blood glucose control.  

Storage:Store below 30°C, protected from moisture and light.Keep out of reach of children.
