Diapro 80

Presentation:Each tablet contains 80 mg of gliclazide.Diapro 80 tablets are typically white to off-white, round or oval-shaped, and may be scored. They are available in blister packs.

Indications:Diapro is indicated for the treatment of type 2 diabetes mellitus in adults when diet, exercise, and weight reduction alone are not sufficient to achieve adequate glycemic control.  

Dosage and Administration:Diapro 80 tablets are for oral administration and should be swallowed whole with water, usually once or twice daily as directed by the physician.It is generally recommended to take it before meals. The dosage is individualized based on blood glucose levels and response to treatment. The usual starting dose is 40-80 mg daily, and the dose may be adjusted gradually up to a maximum of 320 mg daily in divided doses.

Side Effects:

• Very Common: Hypoglycemia (low blood sugar).
• Common: Weight gain, gastrointestinal disturbances (nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, constipation, abdominal discomfort).
• Uncommon: Skin reactions (rash, itching, urticaria).
• Rare: Blood disorders (thrombocytopenia, leukopenia, agranulocytosis), liver problems (jaundice, elevated liver enzymes).

Precautions:

Diapro is contraindicated in patients with type 1 diabetes mellitus, diabetic ketoacidosis, severe renal or hepatic impairment, and hypersensitivity to gliclazide or other sulfonylureas. Caution should be exercised in patients with mild to moderate renal or hepatic impairment, glucose-6-phosphate dehydrogenase (G6PD) deficiency, and in situations that may increase the risk of hypoglycemia. Regular monitoring of blood glucose is necessary.
