Diaryl 1

Presentation: Each tablet contains glimepiride 1 mg.

Indications: Diaryl 1 is indicated as an adjunct to diet and exercise to lower blood glucose in adults with type 2 diabetes mellitus whose hyperglycemia cannot be controlled by diet and exercise alone. It may also be used in combination with other oral antidiabeticagents or insulin.

Dosage and Administration: The usual starting dose is 1 mg once daily, taken immediately before or with the first main meal of the day (usually breakfast). The dose may be increased gradually by the physician based on regular blood glucose monitoring, usually at intervals of 1-2 weeks. The maximum recommended daily dose is typically 8 mg.

Side Effects: The most common side effect is hypoglycemia (low blood sugar). Symptoms may include sweating, shakiness, confusion, dizziness, and hunger. Other possible side effects include headache, nausea, and temporary visual disturbances at the start of treatment. Less common side effects may include gastrointestinal disturbances and allergic skin reactions.

Precautions: Diaryl 1 should be used with caution in patients with impaired renal or hepatic function. Elderly, debilitated, and malnourished patients are at increased risk of hypoglycemia. Caution is advised when used in combination with other antidiabetic agents or medications that can affect blood glucose levels. Alcohol consumption should be avoided.

Storage: Store below 30°C, protected from moisture and light. Keep out of reach of children.
