Diplin 5 

Presentation: Diplin 5 is available as tablets, each containing 5 mg of Linagliptin.

Indications: Diplin is indicated in adults with type 2 diabetes mellitus to improve glycemic control as:  

• Monotherapy:In patients inadequately controlled by diet and exercise alone and forwhom metformin is inappropriate due to intolerance or contraindications. 
• Combination Therapy:In combination with other glucose-lowering medicinal products includingmetformin, sulfonylureas, or insulin when these do not provide adequate glycemic control.

Dosage and Administration: The recommended dose of Diplin is 5 mg once daily. It can be taken with or without food at any time of the day. When Diplin is added to metformin, the dose of metformin should be maintained. When used in combination with a sulfonylurea or insulin, a lower dose of the sulfonylurea or insulin may be considered to reduce the riskof hypoglycemia. No dose adjustment is required for patients with renal impairment.

Side Effects: Common side effects may include nasopharyngitis. Hypoglycemia may occur when Diplin is used in combination with sulfonylureas or insulin. Other possible side effects include cough and pancreatitis (less common).

Precautions: Diplin is contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to linagliptin or any of the excipients. Caution should be exercised when used in combination with sulfonylureas and/or insulin due to the increased risk of hypoglycemia; a dose reduction of these agents may be considered. Monitor for signs and symptoms of pancreatitis; if suspected, discontinue Diplin.

Storage: Store in a dry place away from light and heat. Keep out of reach of children.
