Presentation: Each film-coated tablet of Diplin M 500 contains Linagliptin INN 2.5 mg and Metformin Hydrochloride BP 500 mg. It is available in strips.
Indications: Diplin M is indicated as an adjunct to diet and exercise to improve glycemic control in adults with type 2 diabetes mellitus when treatment with both linagliptin and metformin is appropriate.
Dosage and Administration: The dosage of Diplin M should be individualized based on the patient's current regimen, effectiveness, and tolerability, not exceeding the maximum recommended daily dose of linagliptin 5 mg and metformin hydrochloride 2000 mg. It is generally taken twice daily with meals. Dose escalation should be gradual to reduce the gastrointestinal side effects associated with metformin.
Side Effects: Common side effects may include diarrhea, nausea, vomiting, upset stomach, headache, and nasopharyngitis. Hypoglycemia may occur when Diplin M is used in combination with insulin or sulfonylureas.
Precautions: Diplin M is contraindicated in patients with severe renal impairment (eGFR < 30 mL/min/1.73 m²), acute or chronic metabolic acidosis (including diabetic ketoacidosis), or known hypersensitivity to linagliptin or metformin. It is not recommended in patients with moderate renal impairment (eGFR 30-45 mL/min/1.73 m²) unless the benefit is considered to outweigh the risk, and renal function should be closely monitored. Caution is advised in patients with hepatic impairment or heart failure. Avoid excessive alcohol intake. Renal function should be assessed prior to initiation and periodically thereafter.
Storage: Store below 30°C in a dry place, protected from light and moisture. Keep out of reach of children.
