Diverin 10 

Presentation: Each tablet contains Dicycloverine Hydrochloride BP 10 mg. Diverin is a brand name marketed by ACI Pharmaceuticals Ltd. in Bangladesh. It is usually available in blister packs.

Indications: Diverin (Dicycloverine) is an antispasmodic agent indicated for the symptomatic relief of spasmodic pain associated with:

• Irritable bowel syndrome (IBS)
• Intestinal colic
• Dysmenorrhea (menstrual cramps)
• Urinary incontinence secondary to unstable detrusor muscle
• Infantile colic
• Gastrointestinal spasms
• Colicky abdominal pain
• Diverticulitis
• Abdominal colic

Dosage and Administration: The usual adult dose is 10-20 mg three times daily, taken orally. For children (2-12 years), the usual dose is 10 mg three times daily. For infants (6 months-2 years), the usual dose is 5-10 mg (1/2-1 teaspoonful of syrup formulation if available) three times daily, 15 minutes before feeds. Diverin should not be used in infants under 6 months of age. The dosage should be adjusted according to the severity of the condition and the patient's response, as directed by a physician.

Side Effects: Common side effects may include dry mouth, blurred vision, dizziness, drowsiness, and nausea. Other possible side effects are constipation, transient bradycardia followed by tachycardia, palpitations, arrhythmias, reduced bronchial secretions, urinary urgency and retention, dilatation of pupils with loss of accommodation, photophobia,flushing, and dryness of the skin. Insomnia, increased ocular tension, and dyspnea have also been reported.

Precautions: Diverin (Dicycloverine) is contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to dicycloverine or any of its components, angle closure glaucoma, myasthenia gravis, pyloric stenosis, paralytic ileus, prostatic enlargement, obstructive uropathy, obstructive diseaseof the gastrointestinal tract, severe ulcerative colitis, and reflux esophagitis.It should be used with caution in patients with autonomic neuropathy, hepatic or renal disease, ulcerative colitis (large doses may suppress intestinal motility),coronary heart disease, congestive heart failure, cardiac tachyarrhythmia, hiatal hernia, or known or suspected prostatic hypertrophy. It should be used during pregnancy only if clearly needed, and it is contraindicated in lactating mothers as it is secreted in human milk.

Storage: Store below 30°C in a cool and dry place, protected from light. Keep out of reach of children.
