Indications: Dopatic (Domperidone) is indicated for the relief of symptoms of nausea and vomiting. It is also used for the relief of upper abdominal discomfort, epigastric fullness, and regurgitation of gastric contents, which can be associated with conditions such as:
Dosage and Administration: Dopatic tablets should be taken 15-30 minutes before meals.
The duration of treatment is usually short-term. Consult your physician for specific instructions.
Side Effects: Common side effects may include dry mouth, headache, and diarrhoea. Domperidone can increase prolactin levels, which may lead to galactorrhoea (milk production in non-breastfeeding individuals), breast enlargement and soreness, and reduced libido in some cases. Less common side effects may include dizziness and drowsiness. There is a potential risk of cardiac side effects, including QT prolongation and arrhythmias, particularly at higher doses or in individuals with pre-existing heart conditions.
Precautions: Dopatic (Domperidone) is contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to domperidone or any of the excipients, prolactin-releasing pituitarytumours (prolactinoma), gastrointestinal haemorrhage, mechanical obstruction or perforation. It should be used with caution in children due to a potential increased risk of extrapyramidal reactions. Caution is also advised in patients with hepatic or renal impairment and in elderly patients. Due to the potential risk of cardiac arrhythmias, it should be used at the lowest effective dose for the shortest possible duration.
Use in Pregnancy and Lactation: Domperidone is generally not recommended for use during pregnancy. It may pass into breast milk, and breastfeeding is not recommended while taking this medicine due to potential safety concerns for the infant. Consult your doctor for advice.
Storage: Store below 30°C in a dry place, protected from light and moisture. Keep out of reach of children.
